Conventional Knockout Mice
A conventional knockout is a mouse model in which a targeted gene or genetic region has been functionally or completely eliminated. This process is done by inserting a selection cassette or a reporter gene such as GFP or lacZ into the locus of the gene. The resulting deletion yields a mouse model lacking the function of those targeted genes.
