iTL Cell Lines

The strength and robust nature of our cell lines contribute to our ability to maintain the industry leading iTL full-service guarantee. The cell lines we make available to our customers have a proven track record of success over many years and over 1000 successful mouse models. They have a high targeting efficiency and consistently yield germline transmission pups.

Two industry standard cell lines, C57BL/6 and 129svev have provided our customers with a wide range of successes and genetic background purity. Our proprietary Hybrid 129svev/C57BL/6 cell line was developed to combine the strengths of the C57BL/6 and 129svev lines and has resulted in a more robust and efficient ES cell line over the past five years. Soon to become available (1st Quarter 2010), the BALB/c will provide our customers with an expanded series of custom mouse model options.

A new BALB/c ES cell line has completed the final stages of development and validation and is now on-line for mouse model generation. This cell line displays excellent homologous recombination and germline transmission rates. It will enable research programs focused on monoclonal antibody production, immunology, cardiovascular, and cancer investigations with new opportunities for gene targeted mouse models.

C57BL/6

Strain variation can affect phenotype. More and more, researchers are requiring their mouse models to be produced in a pure strain. iTL offers a robust C57BL/6N ES cell line for the production of pure C57BL/6N knockout and knockin mouse models. Also, with the availability of C57BL/6 sequence data on-line, cloning of gene targeting vectors for the C57BL/6 strain is easier and more accurate than other mouse lines.

129 SvEv

iTL’s pioneering line, the 129 strain, is the traditional agouti mouse strain that has been used for the past 20 years in the field of gene targeting. It has proven over time to exhibit high levels of homologous recombination and germline transmission.

Hybrid ES Cell Line

iTL developed their hybrid cell line to incorporate the strengths of both the 129SvEv and C57BL/6N lines into a single, more robust ES cell line. In addition, the hybrid line exhibits dramatic rate increases (an average of 200%) in frequency of positive clones per targeting event in production.

Ultimately, these improvements result in more efficient germline transmission, enabling iTL to produce and deliver your mouse models faster.
