Mouse Metabolic Phenotyping using novel stable isotope flux measurements!
Metabolic phenotyping of knockout mice with metabolic disorders is crucial to better understand the gene's function as well as to characterize the disease properly.
This service can ideally be provided right after the mouse model has been created at iTL, but is available to any investigator who has a mouse model.
Metscreen is geared towards, but not limited to mouse models exhibiting a metabolic disease such as diabetes and obesity.
We use novel stable isotope flux measurements to show compensatory pathways between liver, muscle and fat which traditional tests alone, such as clamps, fail to show. (click here for more info) Labeled glucose, glycerol, lactate and deuterated water can be tracked throughout the metabolic network. GC/MS will measure the distribution of the isotope tracer after circulation through the body. Mice can undergo the stable isotope flux measurements and be re-used for additional tests.
Metscreen is a systematic step-by-step test system that can be tailored to your needs. Each test is based on the results of the previous test, this way unnecessary tests are avoided.
