Why Model CCR8

Ccr8 is the mouse ortholog of human CCR8 and encodes CC chemokine receptor 8, a class A G-protein-coupled receptor. CCR8 is expressed on certain regulatory T cells and other cells and has been associated with their migration and tissue localization.

CCR8 is expressed on tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells, and CCR8-directed agents are under study for selective depletion of these cells in cancer. Ccr8-deficient mice are viable with altered type 2 and regulatory T-cell responses in some models.

Model Applications

Humanized CCR8 models, in which the human receptor replaces the mouse counterpart, have been used to evaluate CCR8-directed antibodies intended to target tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells in defined experimental settings.
