Why Model Cd3e

Cd3e is the mouse ortholog of human CD3E and encodes the CD3ε subunit of the T-cell receptor–CD3 complex. CD3ε contributes to assembly and surface expression of the complex and to transmission of T-cell-receptor signals.

CD3ε is the engagement point for T-cell-redirecting bispecific antibodies (T-cell engagers) used in several cancers, and anti-CD3 antibodies have other clinical uses; effects depend on the specific agent and context. Loss of CD3ε function has been associated with impaired T-cell development.

Model Applications

Humanized CD3E models, in which the human subunit replaces the mouse counterpart, have been used to evaluate T-cell-engaging bispecific antibodies in immunocompetent mice, often combined with humanization of a tumor-target antigen.

Cd3e models have been used to study T-cell-receptor signaling in defined experimental settings.
