Why Model CXCR3
Cxcr3 is the mouse ortholog of human CXCR3 and encodes CXCR3 (CD183), a class A G-protein-coupled chemokine receptor that binds the chemokines CXCL9, CXCL10, and CXCL11. CXCR3 has been associated with recruitment of activated T cells and other cells to inflamed tissues.
CXCR3 has been associated with inflammatory, autoimmune, and antitumor immune responses, and CXCR3-pathway-directed approaches are under study. Cxcr3-deficient mice show altered T-cell trafficking.
Model Applications
Humanized CXCR3 models, in which the human receptor replaces the mouse counterpart, have been used to evaluate CXCR3-directed agents in defined experimental settings.
