Why Model IL7R
Il7r is the mouse ortholog of human IL7R and encodes the interleukin-7 receptor alpha chain (CD127), which pairs with the common gamma chain. IL-7 receptor signaling has been associated with development and homeostasis of T cells and other lymphocytes.
IL7R alterations are associated with severe combined immunodeficiency and with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and IL-7-pathway-directed approaches are under study. Il7r-deficient mice show impaired lymphocyte development.
Model Applications
Humanized IL7R models, in which the human chain replaces the mouse counterpart, have been used to study IL-7-dependent lymphocyte biology and to evaluate IL-7-pathway-directed agents in defined experimental settings.
