Why Model LILRB4
LILRB4 (ILT3, CD85k) encodes an immunoglobulin-superfamily inhibitory receptor expressed on myeloid and other cells; the mouse genome contains related paralogs, including Lilrb4b. LILRB4 has been associated with inhibitory signaling and modulation of myeloid-cell and T-cell responses.
LILRB4 is expressed on monocytic acute myeloid leukemia and on myeloid-derived suppressor cells, and LILRB4-directed agents are under study in cancer. Mouse models have been used to study LILRB4-pathway biology.
Model Applications
Humanized LILRB4 models, in which the human receptor is expressed in mice, have been used to evaluate LILRB4-directed antibodies and related agents in defined experimental settings.
