A Fabp4 knockout mouse has the Fabp4 gene permanently inactivated, enabling loss of function studies. A Fabp4 conditional knockout (floxed) mouse carries loxP sites flanking a critical exon of Fabp4, allowing Cre recombinase dependent deletion in specific tissues or at specific timepoints. Fabp4 knockin models carry a precisely inserted sequence at the Fabp4 locus, useful for reporter, tag, or humanization studies. Fabp4 transgenic models carry additional copies of the Fabp4 gene for overexpression studies.
