About Nkx2 Mouse Model Types

A Nkx2 knockout mouse has the Nkx2 gene permanently inactivated, enabling loss of function studies. A Nkx2 conditional knockout (floxed) mouse carries loxP sites flanking a critical exon of Nkx2, allowing Cre recombinase dependent deletion in specific tissues or at specific timepoints. Nkx2 knockin models carry a precisely inserted sequence at the Nkx2 locus, useful for reporter, tag, or humanization studies.
