Why Model CXCR6
Cxcr6 is the mouse ortholog of human CXCR6 and encodes CXCR6 (CD186), a class A G-protein-coupled chemokine receptor that binds CXCL16. CXCR6 has been associated with the positioning and retention of tissue-resident and other T cells.
CXCR6 has been associated with antitumor immunity, liver disease, and inflammation, and the CXCL16-CXCR6 axis is under study. Cxcr6-deficient mice show altered tissue-resident T-cell populations.
Model Applications
Humanized CXCR6 models, in which the human receptor replaces the mouse counterpart, have been used to evaluate CXCR6-directed agents in defined experimental settings.
