A Ins2 knockout mouse has the Ins2 gene permanently inactivated, enabling loss of function studies. A Ins2 conditional knockout (floxed) mouse carries loxP sites flanking a critical exon of Ins2, allowing Cre recombinase dependent deletion in specific tissues or at specific timepoints. Ins2 knockin models carry a precisely inserted sequence at the Ins2 locus, useful for reporter, tag, or humanization studies. Ins2 transgenic models carry additional copies of the Ins2 gene for overexpression studies.
