Why Model CD22

Cd22 is the mouse ortholog of human CD22 and encodes CD22 (Siglec-2), an immunoglobulin-superfamily sialic-acid-binding receptor expressed on B cells. CD22 has been associated with regulation of B-cell receptor signaling.

CD22 is expressed across most B-cell malignancies, and CD22-directed agents, including an antibody–drug conjugate and CAR T cells, are used or under study. Cd22-deficient mice are viable with altered B-cell responses.

Model Applications

Humanized CD22 models, in which the human protein replaces the mouse counterpart, have been used to evaluate CD22-directed therapeutics in defined experimental settings.
