Why Model CD7
Cd7 is the mouse ortholog of human CD7 and encodes CD7, an immunoglobulin-superfamily glycoprotein expressed on T cells and natural killer cells. CD7 has been associated with roles in T-cell activation.
CD7 is expressed on T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and other T-cell malignancies, and CD7-directed CAR T cells are under study. Cd7-deficient mice are viable with largely preserved lymphocyte development.
Model Applications
Humanized CD7 models, in which the human protein replaces the mouse counterpart, have been used to evaluate CD7-directed therapeutics in defined experimental settings.
