Why model Rptor
Raptor, encoded by Rptor and orthologous to human RPTOR, is the substrate-presenting scaffold of mTOR complex 1, recognizing TOS motifs in S6K1, 4E-BP1 and other clients, tethering the complex to the lysosomal surface through the Rag GTPase heterodimer and Ragulator during amino acid sufficiency, and providing the surface required for FKBP12-rapamycin inhibition.
