Foxo3 is the mouse ortholog of human FOXO3 and encodes the forkhead factor most closely tied to oxidative stress resistance, quiescence and longevity, binding the same consensus element as FOXO1 and inducing Sod2, Cat, Gadd45a, Bcl2l11 encoding BIM, and Cdkn1b, thereby setting apoptotic threshold and stem cell reserve.
