Because ligand redundancy across three TGFB isoforms and intact activin and BMP arms (Acvr2a, Acvr2b, Bmpr2) preserve parallel SMAD1/5/8 flux, receptor deletion silences only the SMAD2/3 branch; reserve epitope humanization for ligand trap and antibody pharmacology.
